Formed in 1991 in Sacramento, CA, Cake's music is often classified as alternative or indie rock, but it combines multiple musical genres, such as funk, pop, jazz, rap and country. Featuring vocalist John McCrea, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, drummer Paulo Baldi, guitarist Xan McCurdy and bassist Gabe Nelson, the group, whose most well-known single is 'The Distance,' has released several albums, the latest of which is 2011's 'Showroom for Compassion.'
