5pm - Science music and Happy hour
6pm - the discussion gets underway

Though some have dismissed the effects of global climate change, others have called it the single greatest threat facing societies today. How accurate are doomsday predictions, and how can we separate fact from fiction to make informed choices that support the health of our environment? Join us for a discussion that will explore the science and culture behind climate change headlines. Panelists include Peter Ciborowski from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Fresh Energy's Science Policy Director J. Drake Hamilton, and University of Minnesota Rhetoric professor and environmental historian Daniel Philippon.

Peter Ciborowski is the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s expert on global warming and climate change. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is on the web at http://www.pca.state.mn.us/.

J. Drake Hamilton is Science Policy Director for Fresh Energy, formerly Minnesotans for an Energy-Effcient Economy. She is the principal author of Fresh Energy's publication Playing with Fire: Climate Change in Minnesota; her work focuses on policy solutions to global warming. Fresh Energy is on the web at http://www.fresh-energy.org

Daniel Philippon is Associate Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where he teaches courses on nature writing, religion, science, and environmental studies.
