Come out and join us for TREE PLANTING!!

In Ontario 30 million trees a year used to be planted on rural, private lands in the province. In the 1990s, this had dropped to as low as only 2 million. Experts tell us that in order to achieve 30 per cent forest cover and a healthy ecosystem we need to plant over a billion more trees. Trees Ontario is a not-for-profit organization committed to the re-greening of Ontario through tree planting efforts on rural lands and in urban areas.

Hosted by CAA South Central Ontario and Trees Ontario, the Community Planting Weekend is designed to gather together CAA Members, along with their families, friends, and community members to take part in a 1/2 day tree planting activity, promoting community engagement and environmental action. The event engages communities in local reforestation projects, and builds awareness around the importance of trees, shade and green urban spaces. The event takes place in a public space needing to be re-greened, and participants enjoy the opportunity to be involved in a very meaningful project with enormous environmental benefits for various communities throughout Ontario.
