Butterflies Along the Bay September 2, 2012

While Monarch butterflies are heading south to Mexico, many southern species are still expanding their range northward. Senior Naturalist Stephanie Mason will lead this search for butterflies on the move - Sleepy Orange, Buckeye, Cloudless Sulphur, and Ocola Skipper, just to name a few, as well as late-season resident species. The destination will be a park just on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge: Terrapin Beach Nature Park on Kent Island. You'll walk between up to 3.5 miles in generally open and sunny terrain as you explore the meadow, woodland, and beach habitats in search of butterflies and nectar resources.
