The Bunker Club
As the stiletto slowly go higher and higher in the Meatpacking District, the cool crowd was displaced by a rougher sort of crew privy to abs-flashings and occasional stretch limonene with garden-yellow license plates. But alas the stretch limo has left the building and now bringing in the kind of cool tighter-roped scene like The Bunker Club. A secret entrance marked by a steel-gate leads to the subterranean space opposite such trendy landmarks as Soho House but also Bill’s Burger with grimy staircase worthy of a tetanus shot after a tumble on the way down or after a few drinks back up. Disclaimer: Watch for falling starlets.

The bunker refers to the previous occupant of the space that was a Civil War-era bank vault where Yankees stuffed their metal coffers and today a crowd privy to the Beatrice Inn (Matt Abramcyk is a co-owner) and fashionable faces like Alexander Wang strut their stuff into a dingy-chic space of checkerboard floor, concrete walls with expressionist artwork and red loungers harder than an WWI internment camp bed. A rustic plank bar and candlelit bar-back sandwich tattooed platoon of bartenders in tucked uniform shirts a girl wouldn’t mind having to imprison for a few years.
