Created by two Salem web geeks, Marc Amos and Angelo Simeoni, the Build Guild is a monthly event (Every 2nd Tuesday of the month) where folks in the web industry (designers, coders, project managers, hobbyists, etc.) can get together to talk web, debate industry topics, share ideas, make professional connections, land gigs, and discuss the real reasons why mustaches need to make a comeback.

Follow the Build Guild on twitter, be sure to join the Flickr group, sign up for the Build Guild LinkedIn group, and if you're on Facebook, join the Build Guild Facebook group.

This month's raffle prize is being generously donated by the folks at HCPro (http://www.hcpro.com/). Be sure to bring your business card for a chance to win the prize!

Saw something recently on Twitter about parking - can that info be posted here as well? Will parking be a big issue, given the time of year?

@jlbruno - Yeah, I quickly whipped up this little map showing folks where the nearby public parking areas are (http://www.buildguild.org/image/bg-parking.png). While there will always be street spots here and there, these highlighted areas are certainly more promising.

As far as parking being an issue, while I doubt it will be terrible, October is known to bring enormous amounts of people to Salem. Luckily, the event is on a Tuesday night, rather than a Friday or the weekend, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I'd at least give yourself some extra time to get here and roam around for a parking spot. It couldn't hurt to print the image above to help you easily locate those particular parking lots.

We’re introducing a small feature to tomorrow's Build Guild: a cork-board on an easel.

The cork-board’s surface will be divided into two halves; on one side you can post a note if you’re looking for work and on the other side you can post a note if you’re looking for help.

If you’re a local agency in need of a new designer, post a note. If you’re a small agency looking for new projects, post a note. If you hate your current job, and your boss isn’t around, post a note.

These notes can be some scribbles on scrap paper, your fancy business card, your resume, PG-13 polaroids, ... whatever; our goal is to help you find the job/project/employee/contractor/agency you've been looking for.
