After winning audience praise in his first BSO appearance, rising star Arild Remmereit returns to the podium to lead the BSO in a program of admired works. Known for its melodic themes, encompassing energy and sentimental expression, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto is performed by BSO Associate Concertmaster Madeline Adkins. Encouraged by his wife Clara to compose more symphonic music, Schumann wrote the First Symphony. The "Spring Symphony" is widely recognized as the most popular of his four symphonies and was premiered under the baton of Felix Mendelssohn, Schumann's contemporary and one of his musical inspirations.
