Canadian writer, filmmaker, and photographer Bruce LaBruce, whose films have garnered critical acclaim at festivals including Sundance, presents photographs that confront conventional concepts of sexuality and sex. The shots included here alternately fetishize pregnant women, S&M, and gay porn; symbolically allude to Eastern and Western religions; and suggest sexual violence with nude, bloody bodies. One of the originators of homo-punk fanzines, LaBruce compiled these photographs from the set of his last movie, casting calls, and photo shoots for magazines. A twisted brand of kitsch, commerce, and art combine to create a collection that shocks in its naked, brutal honesty. (NR)
