Brooklyn, N.Y. July 23, 2008– Brooklyn Singer-Songwriter Leah Lawrence will host a launch party to celebrate the release of her second album, Everywhere To Go, Folk by Foulke Volume II, at The Perch Cafe at 365 5th Ave in Park Slope, Brooklyn on July 23rd at 7 p.m. The general public and fans of her first album, Folk by Foulke Volume I, are invited to take part in the festivities.

All songs on Everywhere To Go, Folk by Foulke Vol. II were written and performed by Leah Lawrence, recorded and mixed by Dan Stein at King Kuts in Brooklyn, N.Y., and mastered by Scott Hull at Scott Hull Mastering in Manhattan. Five of the eleven tracks are musical collaborations with family and friends, including a song Leah scribbled in her journal while sitting in a coffee shop in post-Katrina New Orleans. A sign that hung on the wall inspired the song's title, "Be Nice or Leave." Leah is a believer in signs—the literal and the figurative -- and feels that if one listens to them, as she did while making this album, "the work does itself for you."

Leah’s voice has been likened to that of many of the great female vocalists of past and present such as Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette, Laura Nyro, and Jenny Lewis. Her own vocal inspirations include Carole King, Sweet Honey and the Rock, and Kate Nemagarian, among others. Despite an eclectic musical taste, she remains true to the traditional folk sound in her own music. In this second album, Leah’s intention was to connect to her listeners through authentic vocals that reflect the way her voice sounds when listening to her play live.

Leah has performed and collaborated with many musicians including Rufus Wainwright, Julia Cho, Lizzie West, Florence Yoo, and Laura Thomas. She has played New York City venues such as The Stinger Club, Pete's Candy Store, The Cutting Room, CBGB's Gallery, Sidewalk Cafe, Saint Veronica's Church, Ding Dong Lounge, Under the Volcano, Chez Betty, and Dixon Place, as well as venues in Massachusetts.

Leah is also an actor, yoga teacher, and Synapsing™ practitioner and notes that movement inspires her songwriting. Most of the lyrics from Everywhere To Go, came to her while driving in her car while visiting family in Westchester County and South Carolina. In reference to Leah’s lyric content and delivery, journalist Daniela Amini says: "one of her defining gifts is that she can take you to the sunniest and darkest places within the space of a phrase." Leah is embarking on a one-year adventure to Berlin this fall where she will continue to write and play music.
