We could easily get away with placing BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE somewhere between Arcade Fire and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Hey, also 2 Canadian bands - or rather 'collectives' - who deal in multi-instrumentalism and musical millepedism. But it's not that simple because Broken Social Scene have actually earned their own place in the world of epic musical madness. The new, still untitled album, is just as its predecessor 'You Forgot It In People', a trip you have to stay on until the end 'coz something exciting happens every second. Once again on this album there is collaboration with all the group's peripheral projects, the likes of Apostle Of Hustle, Feist, Do Make Say Think and Stars. In any case, a fine album once again containing grand interpretations of dark, experimental and exciting music with references to Sonic Youth or Slint.

THE MOST SERENE REPUBLIC are 6 friends from Ontario who've found a roof under the same label as Broken Social Scene. Their album 'Underwater Cinematographer' was released last June and has been described here and there on the internet as a cross between the previously mentioned Broken Social Scene and Postal Service. An emotional and broadly orchestrated landscape in which the voices of the 6 members' voices appear (sometimes simultaneously!).
