On 3 May 2006 RNID is aiming to get into the Guinness Book of records by getting 100,000 people to take the telephone hearing check!

Events will take place throughout the UK, encouraging as many people as possible to dial the 0845 600 5555 UK number for a validated telephone hearing check. This nationwide RNID event will be spearheaded by a gathering in the beautiful setting of Sound, in Lerwick, Shetland. Attending the massive communal hearing check in Sound Public Hall, will be the Convenor for Shetland, local councillors, and as much of the local population as will fit into the local venue.

To persuade Londoners to take the check, there also will be a spectacular light and sound show on the evening of May 2nd, outside Senate House in Bloomsbury, in conjunction with the University of London and the National Union of Students (NUS). Keep an eye on UK newspapers for more events.

Members of the Welsh Assembly will also be taking the check on the 3rd, and will be encouraging all their colleagues to do the same.

If you would like to take part in Britain?s Biggest Sound Check, call 0845 600 5555 on May 3rd, and be in with a chance to take your place in the Guinness Book of Records. If you live somewhere with a sound-related name, drop us a line to: [email protected] and we'll let you know how to get involved further.
