The National Asian Pacific American Women?s Forum (NAPAWF) Bay Area chapter will present their first fundraiser ?Bridging the API Sisterhood?: an evening featuring performances by Destiny Arts Center, comic Ali Wong, punk-R&B singer Golda Supernova and more on Friday, November 11th, at Club Lamia at 8pm.

The NAPAWF Bay Area chapter will raise money to support its fight for reproductive justice, Vietnamese nail salon worker rights and domestic violence education. ?This show is different than any other because all of the performers are women of color,? said Bay Area chapter representative Miya Saika Chen. ?And it?s not like the line-up is the JV team, we?re talking quality, blow you out of the water, watch out for these up and coming sisters kind of artists.?

Destiny Arts, a multicultural dance center that provides movement-arts education and violence-prevention for youth, will open the night with a hip-hop routine. Director Sarah Crowell said, ?You?re gonna hear a poem from a young Asian American sister. It?s extremely powerful, beautiful and just plain dope.?

Followers have praised up-and-coming comic Ali Wong as delivering ?fresh?, ?empowering? and ?fucking hilarious!? material. Wong said, ?I?m excited to make my fellow sisters proud of their vaginas and butts, even though Asian female butts are well?kind of flat?but in a damn beautiful kind of way!?

Golda Supernova and her band, the Comic Book Heroes will headline. 3rd World born, 1st World bred, fed on old school hair rock, with new wave appetites, perverted by jazz and addicted to majestic chaos, Golda sings like a woman trapped between possession and exorcism, heat and anger with sudden moments of soaring, revelatory wonder.

?Bridging the API Sisterhood? will also feature a silent auction and dancing. ?This show is the first of its kind, and we?re thrilled to be celebrating the empowerment of Asian American females with a night of bidding, crazy talent, dancing and yes, drinking? said Miya Saika Chen.
