Brian Honan 5K Road Race September 14, 2008

Everyone from competitive runners to friends of beloved councilor, Brian Honan, are invited to register for the Brian Honan 5K run/walk at www.brianhonan.org! You are also welcome to register in-person Saturday, September 13, 2008 12-3:00pm at the New Balance Retail Store 40 Life St. Brighton, MA 02135.

Runners from around the Commonwealth will join friends and family of the late
Boston City Councilor Brian Honan for the Brian Honan 5k Road Race presented by
New Balance. The race takes place Sunday, September 14th at noon. Funds raised from the event will benefit scholarship funds for the Allston Board of Trade and the Brighton Board of Trade. The race also benefits the Brian J. Honan Charitable Fund, which fosters local and national programs that support education, recreation, housing, and healthcare.

Age Groups: Top 3 (male/female) 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each category (male/female).
Awards: Medals will be provided for the first three finishers in each category, with first place prizes furnished by New Balance.
Amenities: Runners will enjoy world class pre-race stretching tables, professional timing, pace car, on-course and finish line refreshments, restroom facilities, recovery stations, USA Track and Field sanction and certification and much more.

New Balance will also award free race t-shirts to the first 1,000 entrants.

Brian J. Honan served the Allston Brighton community for more than seven years as District Councilor and for his whole life as an advocate for Allston Brighton and the people of the City of Boston. He lived a life filled with purpose and spirit that transformed ideas into action. Brian's vocation in serving the people of Boston - seniors, young people, community based workers and educators - left an unparalleled legacy.
