Marsalis Brasilianos: A Celebration of the Music of Heitor Villa-Lobos

Long regarded as one of the contemporary giants of jazz, Grammy-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis is a true renaissance artist, successfully expanding the scope of his oeuvre into myriad genres, including popular music, hip-hop and classical. Now, this versatile and technically gifted artist joins forces with members of the outstanding Philarmonia Brasileira in a thrilling musical celebration of the groundbreaking Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death. Led by the passionate conductor Gil Jardim, the Philarmonia Brasileira is renowned for its award-winning recordings of Villa-Lobos. The program will feature works for solo saxophone and orchestra by Villa-Lobos and his friend and kindred spirit, French composer Darius Milhaud.
