Can we control our brain health? Emerging scientific evidence says we can. The series of speakers for this afternoon series are either leaders in such research or conversant with the research and are promoting the findings in their practices, programs, or presentations.

A reception with healthy snacks prepared by Patty James, a vital health educator and nutrition coach will kick off the program.

William Grant, Ph.D. director of SUNARC, will give a brief overview of all health benefits of vitamin D in reducing the risk of chronic and infectious diseases, ending with the latest findings regarding the role of vitamin D in protecting the brain, increasing IQ, and reducing the risk of cognitive impairment and dementia.

Dr. Daniel Amen, Medical Director of Amen Clinics, Inc., will discuss natural ways to optimize the brain and give people a very specific 10-step prescription.

Professor Adam Gazzeley, Director, UCSF Neuroscience Imaging Center, will first give an overview of the changes that occur in our cognitive abilities with normal aging, as well as the accompanying structural, chemical and physiological changes in the aging brain. He will then describe the latest state-of-the-art scientific tools available to understand the human brain.

Phil Jacklin, Ph.D., Past President, Smart Life Forum, will discuss prevention and reversal of Alzheimer's disease through use of medium chain triglycerides /ketone therapy and niacinamide (B3). Steve Fowkes founder of the Cognitive Enhancement Research Institute, will graphically summarize the cascade of events from the energy deficit to the loss of memory and cognitive function.

Professor Judith Orloff, Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCLA, and author, Emotional Freedom, will discuss how to harness our biology and attitude to reduce stress and optimize brain health and fitness.
