Sculpturesite Gallery is pleased to present At This Moment, a solo exhibition of colorful free-standing, hanging and suspended sculpture by Southern California artist Brad Howe. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, October 18, from 5:30 to 7:30. The artist will be in attendance. The show will be on view through January 5th, 2008.

Brad Howe, 48, is a Los Angeles based artist who began his career in Brazil. As a student of International Relations at Stanford University, he attended the University of Sao Paulo to specialize in Brazilian Affairs, which led to the discovery of art and architecture. His first exhibitions were in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. A primarily self-taught sculptor, Howe has exhibited in over 16 countries worldwide and his work is included in collections in over 32 countries.

For this exhibition, Howe will show numerous works in painted and brushed stainless steel. His primary-colored, geometrically abstracted shapes evoke children's' cartoons. Whimsical and engaging, the viewer is moved by their vitality, an important aspect to the artist's work. Howe's interest in structures with actual or implied kinetic properties, as well as forms which appear to move in amorphous ways, create infinite possibilities for the artist.

Hefton, a four by six foot stainless and painted steel work, is a study in balance. A variegated finish to the steel is juxtaposed by a smooth white surface in this bold abstract form. The three-dimensional shape appears like a boulder which has been sliced through, and notched, leaving the inner core to be observed. In the artist's Kelp Series, colorful plant-like shapes swirl about in mobile form, giving a sense of underwater adventure.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.

Free.
