American pop-culture loves the underdog. Rocky vs. Appolo Creed, The Red Soxs vs. the Yankees, and … California vs. Bordeaux? That’s right, on May 24th, 1976, a bunch of upstart growers in California took on the French Establishment on their own turf. They toppled the world’s finest wines and, along with them, the conventional wisdom that the French alone bottle great wine. And they did it in Paris, at a blind tasting, with a heavily French panel of judges. Talk about having the odds stacked against you!

On August 22nd, the film Bottle Shock opens in Burlington. It’s a vinocentric film that combines the wine obsession of Sideways and the carefree soul-searching of Dazed and Confused to tell the story of the Tasting of ‘76. And on that night, before two very special showings of the film, Dedalus Wine is teaming up with Merrill’s Roxy theater and G-Housen distributors to recreate the experience right in the Roxy Theater! Three wines from California vs. three wines From France – and the audience is the judge.
