Mark Wigglesworth makes his BSO debut, conducting the acclaimed young German violinist Julia Fischer in Beethoven’s unmatched Violin Concerto. German soprano Juliana Banse, known for her performances of a wide range of music from old to new, Lieder to opera, makes her BSO debut as soloist in the finale of Mahler’s warmest symphony, the “Ode to Heavenly Joy.”
