BLOODY MASSACRE ANTICIPATED AT THE OLD STATE HOUSE

Boston, MA ?On March 5, 1770, beneath the balcony of the Old State House, a crowd of colonists began verbally abusing a solitary Redcoat, Private High White. As the taunting grew, British soldiers rallied to help their comrade and fired into the crowd, killing Crispus Attucks, Samuel Gray, and James Caldwell; two other citizens died later. The Boston Massacre was one of the triggering events of the American Revolution and was later described by John Adams as the ?night the foundation of American Independence was laid.?
