Known for its summer concert series, "Landmarks Festival at the Shell," Boston Landmarks Orchestra, with Founder and Artistic Director Charles Ansbacher, will perform its annual winter concert titled "Romantics in Winter."

The program will include Holberg Suite and Piano Concerto in A minor composed by Edvard Grieg, and Rosamunde Overture and Symphony No. 5 in B-flat by Franz Schubert. Fifteen-year-old Kong Qi (last name Kong), originally from Liaoning province in China, will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Orchestra, marking his U.S. orchestral debut.

About Kong Qi:
Fifteen-year-old pianist Kong Qi was born in Liaoning province in Northern China. He started piano lessons at the age of four with his father Kong Ling-xun, and at the age of six won first prize in the Liaoning Provincial Piano Competition. In 2003, Kong went to Sheng-Cheng, Canton (South China) for advanced studies and won the first prize of 2003 Canton Arts Competition for mixed instruments category. In 2005, the renowned Shen-Jhen Arts School accepted Kong to its advanced program. In the summer of 2008, Kong began studying at the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts (Lincoln, MA), a non-profit organization that aims to enhance the understanding and the appreciation of Eastern heritage through music and performing arts. Kong remains in Massachusetts at Natick’s Walnut Hill School. This is his first performance with Boston Landmarks Orchestra.
