Book Launch - We Speak in Changing Languages by E V Ramakrishnan & Anju Makhija. The launch will be followed by a dramatic presentation by actor Meeta Vasisht and readings by eminent Mumbai poets Arundhathi Subramaniam, Menka Shivdasani, Sampurna Chattarji, Jane Bhandari and Marlyn Naronha. We Speak in Changing Languages - This comprehensive anthology presents the voices of 21 women poets from all over India-- Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan etc. It highlights the diversity and experimentation that has taken place in contemporary Indian English poetry in the past two decades. Included are established poets like Rukmini Bhaya Nair and younger poets like Anjum Hasan. The volume showcases the ever -growing influence of women's poetry in our midst. There are poems probing myths and memories, also ones that explore relationships in our complex society. About the co-editors: Anju Makhija is a poet , playwright and translator. Her books include View from Web (poems); S eeking the Beloved, a translation of the verse of sufi mystic, Shah Abdu Latif; The Last Train and other plays. She has co-edited an anthology of partition poetry, Freedom and Fissures and a 3-volume series of Indo - English plays. Makhija has won several awards incl the BBC World Poetry Prize ('02) and the All India Poetry Prize ('95). E V Ramakrishnan has published poetry and criticism. His most recent publication is Terms of Seeing: New and Selected Poems. He has also edited a volume of translation, Tree of Tongues: An Anthology of Modern Indian Poetry. For Sahitya Akademi, he has edited Indian Short Story 1900-2000 and Narrating India: The Novel in Search of the Nation. He is a Professor of English at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat.
