Join the Jewish Study Center as we kick off the semester and celebrate the publication of

Arguing with the Storm: Stories by Yiddish Women Writers. We will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine, and listen to a talk by Rhea Tregebov, editor of the anthology, who facilitated the creation of the collection. Adding to our dialogue will be Max Ticktin, Associate Director of the George Washington University Judaic Studies Program, and Miriam Isaacs, Visiting Associate Professor of Yiddish at the University of Maryland/College Park.

Arguing with the Storm offers 14 newly translated stories and memoir excerpts published in Yiddish from the 1940s through the 1990s. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

This event is sponsored by The Reuben/Rifkin Jewish Women Writers Series, a joint project of the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute and The Feminist Press. Co-sponsors are Yiddish of Greater Washington, The Embassy of Canada, and the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue.

The Book Launch Party is part of the Jewish Study Center’s Spring Session, May 5 – July 2. More info at www.jewishstudycenter.org. RSVP to [email protected] or call 202-332-1221.
