Bold Strokes: Works by Terry Ratliff June 5, 2010

Drawn from private collections around the region, this exhibition shows the style and development of Fort Wayne artist Terry Ratliff. Bold Strokes: Works by Terry Ratliff will highlight the bold brushstrokes, intense color and recurring motifs of Ratliff's works. Born in Fort Wayne in 1966, Ratliff showed a proclivity for painting as early as 3 years old and earned his first art award in the second grade. He earned his BFA at Franklin College, where he studied under mentor Luigi Crispino. After spending time in France, Ratliff returned to Fort Wayne to work as a professional artist, using the city as a home-base to display his works locally, regionally in Warsaw and beyond, in Chicago and Florida. Terry Ratliff is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including 2003 Artlink Gallery Regional Winner, Whatzup Magazine Readers' Poll "Best Visual Artist" for an astounding eight years running and 1999, 2003 and 2005 Best in Show at the annual Fort Wayne Covington Art Fair. In 2008, Ratliff was selected to design an ornament to represent the state of Indiana to be displayed at the White House for the holiday season.
