Bogus Pomp is a local band from the St. Petersburg area that has been around since 1994. While they perform a variety of music including songs by the likes of The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Jeff Beck, they are more widely known for their performances featuring the music of Frank Zappa. Their usual make-up is a ten piece combo from which they play a variety of Zappa's more difficult arrangements - from jazz, to rock to orchestral. They have performed several highly acclaimed shows with the Florida Orchestra and have been a featured artist in the annual Zappanale Festival in Germany. Their local Zappaween shows are a favorite event at Halloween each year in St. Petersburg.
