BOBBY PREVITE [drums + electronic drums] and MARCO BENEVENTO [organ]
MARCO BENEVENTO is one half of the Benevento/Russo Duo. The Duo (with drummer Joe Russo) kicked off in 2001 and the pair quickly became the "underground darlings" of the improv world. In 2002, the Benevento/Russo Duo began touring the United States upon their self-released album Darts. Gaining notoriety at such US festivals as the Telluride Jazz Festival, JVC Jazz Festival (NYC), and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (late-night performances), The Duo released their debut album, Best Reason to Buy the Sun on Ropeadope Records in 2005. This collection of ethereal pop and hard-hitting jazz numbers charted in the top-10 of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts and escalated Benevento’s status as an in-demand organist with some of the world’s most respected players. The Benevento/Russo Duo has recently completed their follow-up album Play Pause Stop with co-producers Tom Biller (Fiona Apple, Kanye West) and Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, Tori Amos), and appeared at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festival.
