Bobby 'Blue' Bland is a product of Memphis' Beale Street blues scene. The Beale Streeters, as they were known, consisted of B.B. King, Little Junior, Roscoe Gordon, Howling Wolf, Gatemouth Moore, Ike Turner and others. Beginning in the late 50's, Bland's career highlights include, a #1 on the R&B chart with 'Further On Up The Road,' 'I'll Take Care of You,' 'I Pity the Fool,' 'Don't Cry No More,' 'Turn On Your Love Light,' and 'That's The Way Love Is.' Bland placed an amazing 51 singles on the R&B Top Forty and also crossed over into the pop-oriented Top Forty singles chart only four times and never got higher than Number 20 with 'Ain't Nothing You Can Do' in 1964.
