Legend/Singer/Songwriter Bob Dylan is appearing at Roberts Stadium on Tuesday, August 2nd at 7:30pm.

Dylan has been writing music since he was a teenager in the small town of Hibbing, Minn., and his music in the 1960s reflected a generation of change.

In 1961 he moved to New York and released his self-titled album the following year. In 1963, his next album, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan,” was certified platinum, propelled by the hit “Blowin in the Wind.” The next year introduced “The Times They Are-a Changin” and in 1965, “Like a Rolling Stone.”

To date Dylan has produced 500 songs and more than 40 studio albums. He has received 11 Grammys and in 2008, he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for “his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power.” “I don’t know how I got to write those songs. Those early songs were almost magically written,” Dylan has said about his most influential songs.

Joining Dylan on tour will be the creator of the musical style dubbed the Tulsa Sound, Leon Russell, whose career started at 14 in the nightclubs of Tulsa, Okla. Russell has collaborations with the likes of Ringo Starr, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones and is especially well known for his collaboration with country music pioneer Willie Nelson on the tune “Heartbreak Hotel.” In addition, Russell’s solo singles include “Tight Rope,” “If I Were a Carpenter” and “No Man’s Land.”
