BloomScreen presents: Dakota 38 (2012, 78 min) Smooth Feather Productions and directed by Silas Hagerty

Saturday, February 25th // 6:00pm - 8:00pm
$10 suggested donation to support BloomBars

In 2005, Lakota Spiritual Leader Jim Miller awoke from a dream in which 38 of his Dakota ancestors were hanged. Unknowingly, Jim had recalled an actual event in 1862, where Abraham Lincoln ordered the largest mass execution in US history. In 2008, Jim and a group of horseback riders retraced the route of his dream. The film follows their 330 mile journey, which honors their Dakota ancestors and brings healing and reconciliation to all.

There will be a Q&A following the screening with the films’ production team: director – Silas Hagerty and team members Jay Parrotta and Adam Mastrelli. Mandy Foster from the National Museum of the American Indian, and Ramsey Weeks of the Lakota Nation, will be part of the Q&A panel as well.
