The 2011 Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival promises another magical two days of virtuosic bluegrass superpickers, soulful songwriters and some of the biggest stars on the bluegrass landscape.
Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music that combines Scottish, English, Welsh and Irish traditional music but also incorporates elements of jazz. In bluegrass, as in some forms of jazz, one or more instruments each take turns playing the melody and improvising around it, while the others perform accompaniment; this is especially typified in tunes called breakdowns.
2011 Bloomin Bluegrass Festival guests will come from far and wide to listen to such bluegrass talent as J.D. Crowe and the New South, the Russell More and IIIrd Tyme Out, Seldome Scene, the Lonesome River Band, Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, the Whites and many more.

Admission is free and concessions will be available but remember the festival is BYOC (bring your chair)! The festival is brought to you by the City of Farmers Branch and the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation.
