Exactly two hundred years to the day after its incorporation, the Township of Bloomfield, N.J., will celebrate with its official Bicentennial Opening Ceremony at Bloomfield High School on Friday, March 23, beginning at 7 p.m. “General Joseph Bloomfield,” the Revolutionary War hero for whom the town was named, will read the original charter as it was delivered on March 23, 1812.

The Opening Ceremony is the first of dozens of bicentennial events planned in Bloomfield throughout the year, including a parade, concert series, discussions, historical tours and more.
