In 1892, Lizzie Borden was charged for the brutal double murder of her father and stepmother. The crime shocked the community of Fall River, Massachusetts, as well as the whole nation. Lizzie was acquitted but the crime was never solved, and her innocence was questioned by the public. The play examines this fascinating event and is a remarkable exploration of character: a trial by theatre, in which the audience participates as judge and jury and is asked to consider the nature of truth.
