As part of the inaugural de Young Artists Fellowship, Campo Santo, led by Intersection Theatre Program Director Sean San Jose and Familia members, kicks off a new series of creating and presenting new performances in surprising places, showcasing the new era of Intersection programming.

This specially created project will feature a collage of multi-disciplinary pieces highlighted by an original piece with hip-hop theatre collective Felonious and writings from Junot Diaz.

Block by Block incorporates dance, mixed-media, live music - mixing beatboxing, spoken word movement, battles and more, along with projected visuals created by acclaimed visual artists Favianna Rodriguez and Evan Bissell creating an incredibly rich tapestry of performance that's not to be missed!

Audiences will be taken on a journey, quite literally, through the de Young Museum as they follow performances from the many artists, dancers, and collaborators. Starting from near the murals, audiences will be engaged as the performance takes them to Wilsey Court, through the first floor and down into the Koret Auditorium as they enjoy choreographed, immediate, improvised and purposeful performances from members of Campo Santo and Felonious including Carlos Aguirre, Keith Pinto, Tommy Shepherd and Dan Wolf; Susie Lundy and Crew; Nicole Klaymoon and the Embodiment Project; DJ Wonway (Juan Amador); and the Campo Santo Street Team actors Ricky Saenz, Christine Jamlig, and Kelly Strickland; framed by the visual artworks of Evan Bissell, Favianna Rodriguez, and Ricardo Richey and Campo Santo designers Alejandro Acosta and Tanya Orellana.

Join us for a FREE DRINK for pre-show Receptions at 6pm.

Intersection and Campo Santo continue their special relationship with the great Junot Diaz with the premiere of Block by Block. Intersection and Campo Santo cherish their unique distinction as the only theatre company able to create theatre with Junot Diaz and his amazing writings.
