BLACKBERRY® CURVE™ CHALLENGE TESTS PORTLAND’S URBANITES’ ABILITY TO NAVIGATE THEIR CITY

Winning Portland team to compete for final spot in San Francisco BlackBerry Curve Ultimate Challenge: DESTINATION ALCATRAZ

WHO: Teams of Portland urban thrivers will test their brawn and brains on the streets of Portland using the BlackBerry Curve on Verizon Wireless’ network. The BlackBerry Curve Challenge qualifying round is limited to 150, two-person teams. Participation is free and open to adults aged 18 and older.

WHAT: Challengers will compete in a timed multi-mile, multi-disciplinary race that will incorporate Portland’s geography and landmarks in a competition that tests a teams’ urban orienting skills, physical and mental prowess. The winning team will compete in the grand finale BlackBerry Curve Ultimate Challenge: DESTINATION ALCATRAZ.

Armed with the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone, savvy teams will use the advanced functions of the device to maximize their race performance. The smartphone will provide competitors with a variety of race-day (and everyday) solutions including turn-by-turn navigation to and from each checkpoint using VZ Navigator, researching clues via the Internet, fulfilling photo requirements, and obtaining input from friends and family via calls and text messages.

• 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. team orientation
• 10 a.m. start
• Average time required to competitively complete the race: 2 – 3 hours

WHY: BlackBerry Curve Ultimate Challenge: DESTINATION ALCATRAZ is to showcase the new BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone. PRIZES: The winning Portland Challenge team will compete in the Blackberry Curve Ultimate Challenge in San Francisco on June 14th, along with about 50 local teams and the finalists from Boston and Minneapolis. The Team will receive an all expense paid, three-night stay in San Francisco for themselves and one guest. Members of the winning team of Destination Alcatraz, the final Ultimate challenge in San Francisco, win an all expense paid trip for two to their choice destination of Maui, Paris, Rome or the Mayan Riviera.
