ABOUT THE REX FOUNDATION

The Rex Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable organization, was established in 1983 by friends and members of the Grateful Dead with the core mission “to help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community and educate children and adults everywhere.” The Foundation has to date made grants totaling $8.4 million to over 1,000 programs across the U. S. and internationally. Most Rex grant recipients are grassroots programs that often fall under the radar of larger funding entities.
