Black Music Matters
This concert talk, the first time together for these internationally renowned artists and scholars, is a special event launching Africana Studies at Berklee and a celebration of diversity. Cornel West will give a brief talk addressing the importance of, impact on, and role of black music in culture and society as a whole. A capella group Sweet Honey in the Rock will speak and also perform a short set to underscore the themes addressed by West. Berklee's Reverence Gospel Ensemble, directed by Dennis Montgomery III, will also perform.
