The 25th annual Greater Washington, DC Area Black Memorabilia & Collectible Show will be Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut Street, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Show hours are 10 am to 7 pm. Admission is $6, and children 12 and under are admitted free. There will be many vendors from across the United States with black memorabilia and collectibles for sale including historical artifacts and documents, books, stamps, paintings, prints, textiles, autographs, toys, dolls, advertisements, photos, art, political and civil rights memorabilia, kitchen collectibles, coins, posters, sports and entertainment memorabilia, postcards, cookie jars and much more. Educational exhibits at the show include slavery artifacts, Jim Crow memorabilia, the Buffalo Soldiers, Negro League Baseball, Marcus Garvey, Blacks In Hockey, and the Black Panther Party. Also, there will be autograph sessions with Negro League baseball players. This is the largest black memorabilia and collectible show in the country, and it attracts major vendors and collectors alike. The intent of this show to provide an environment where the public can be educated on the African American experience and black memorabilia, and where they can purchase desirable pieces of black memorabilia and collectibles. This is a showcase of the black experience and an educational experience on African American history for the whole family. There will be plenty of good food and free parking. The show is indoors and will be held rain or shine. The Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg is located just outside the National Capitol Beltway I-495 and can be reached by taking I-270 , exit 11, and following the signs.
