GREATER WASHINGTON, DC BLACK MEMORABILIA AND COLLECTIBLE SHOW, MARCH 24, 2007
The Greater Washington, DC Black Memorabilia and Collectible Show will be Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut Street, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Show hours are 10 am to 7 pm Saturday. Admission is $6, and children 12 and under are admitted free. There will be many exhibitors from across the United States with black memorabilia and collectibles for sale including historical artifacts and documents, books, stamps, paintings, prints, textiles, autographs, toys, dolls, advertisements, photos, art, political memorabilia, kitchen collectibles, sports and entertainment memorabilia, postcards, cookie jars and much more. There will be exhibits of slavery artifacts, Jim Crow memorabilia, the Buffalo Soldiers, the Black Panther Party, and African American inventors. Also, there will be autograph sessions with former players of Negro League baseball teams and Tuskegee Airmen. This event provides education in support of the 2007 Black History Month theme “From Slavery to Freedom: Africans in The Americas”.
This show has been held annually in the Greater Washington, DC area since the 1980's. There were over 100 exhibitors from 19 states at the March 2006 show. The same level of participation or greater is expected at this March 24, 2007 show. This is the largest black memorabilia and collectible show in the country, and it attracts major exhibitors and collectors alike. This is an educational experience for the whole family.
There continues to be a strong interest in black memorabilia and nationally there are many individuals with significant collections. The intent of this show to provide an environment where the public can be educated on the African American experience, and where they can purchase desirable pieces of black memorabilia and collectibles. Purchases of black memorabilia are considered a good investment since the value of such items have continued to appreciate over the years. It is expected that attendees will travel from across the country to be a participant in this unique event. This is a show that you don't want to miss.
There will be plenty of good food and free parking. The show is indoors and will be held rain or shine. The Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg is located just outside the National Capitol Beltway I-495 and can be reached by taking I-270 , exit 11, and following the signs.
