Montréal, June 14, 2010 – BJM DANSE MONTRÉAL will be at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, in
Beckett, Massachusetts, from June 30 to July 4th. A first for the company lead since 1998 by artistic
director Louis Robitaille! A program comprising the works of young choreographers will be presented at the
Ted Shawn Theater, highlighting the two recent creations of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa: Zip Zap Zoom and
Locked up Laura as well as Les Chambres des Jacques by Aszure Barton.
The company is very happy to be invited to one of the most prestigious dance festival in the world. With more
than 200 free activities offered each season and more than 80 000 visitors annually, Jacob’s Pillow is a
true international institution. A beacon of modern dance in the United-States, it has seen some of the biggest
names in American dance, such as Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and José Limon. For Louis Robitaille
this is “an important venue for BJM in a mythical place of dance”.
THE EVENING PROGRAM
Produced in 2009, Zip Zap Zoom and Locked up Laura are recent creations by half-Belgian, half-
Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. With Zip Zap Zoom, the choreographer brings her dancers
in the virtual world of internet games. Locked up Laura is a sensuous duo performed by the notorious Céline
Cassone and Nathan Madden, who has been with the company since 2009.
Alberta-born choreographer Aszure Barton’s first creation for BJM: Les Chambres des Jacques has been part
of the repertoire since 2006. To this day, more than 160 performances of this ballet have taken place. “A
delightful half-hour of dance filled with gentle madness, candor, tender arrogance and originality.” Narbonne,
France, January 2010.
