Bioscience & Health Care Series: Rethinking the Wall Street-Directed Approach to Drug Development January 22, 2008

Dr. Bernie Fox, Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular and Tumor Immunology at Providence Portland's Robert W. Franz Cancer Center, recently co-founded UBIVAC, LLC, an R&D biotechnology company focused on vaccines for cancer and infectious diseases. This is a direct translation of his research from the bench to commercial application, and along the way he has had to confront the existing Wall Street-directed paradigm for drug development. In his talk he will describe the pathway from basic science to commercial application and the particular decision-making role that scientists must play in bringing new drugs to market.
