Lighthouse are delighted to welcome Bill Thompson, well-known technology critic and commentator on digital culture, to Lighthouse for our April Monthly talk.

Currently working for the BBC as the Head of Partnership Development for the BBC Archives, Thompson is a pioneer of new media in the UK. He founded The Guardian’s New Media Lab in 1995, setting up and editing the first Guardian website. He has worked as a freelance journalist, author, public speaker, web developer, consultant and policy advisor. He has a widely read weekly column, Billboard, on the BBC News website, and appears regularly as a studio expert on the BBC World Service’s ‘Digital Planet’. He is a member of the Cambridge Film Trust and sits on the board of the Writers' Centre Norwich.

At Lighthouse, Bill is going to give a talk entitled, "The Arts in the Age of Screens". His talk is prompted by his experiences at the BBC, in light of the recent European Commission report on a new cultural Renaissance that looks set to follow the digitisation of Europe's cultural heritage.
