Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company: Chapel/Chapter December 6, 2006

'Chapel/Chapter' is a site-specific piece created especially for the converted, century-old water pumping station. Bill T. Jones uses dance, text, music and video to interpret the unique interior of The Gatehouse as a space reminiscent of both a chapel and courthouse. Such opposition is central to the show, in which Daniel Bernard Roumain integrates sacred and secular Renaissance music with gospel and folk melodies. Janet Wong's video and Bjorn Amelan's set further transform the venue, which was renovated into a theater by Harlem Stage.
