Bill Frisell is a jazz guitarist who incorporates elements of rock, bluegrass and country music into this own unique style. Frisell formed this quartet (with Jenny Scheinman on violin, Eyvind Kang on viola and Hank Roberts on cello) in 2004 to perform a commissioned work inspired by the paintings of German artist Gerhard Richter. The group has now taken on a life of its own outside the original 858 compositions, giving Frisell yet another platform for combining far-flung musical influences.
