BIG Big Band: Jazz with the Phoenix Pymphony April 5, 2009

Get “In the Mood” for swing with Arizona’s premier symphony! The Phoenix Symphony, under Lawrence Golan’s baton, will play standards and favorites from Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey, and paint a vibrantly romantic picture with Duke Ellington’s symphonic masterpiece Night Creature. The symphony’s lead trombonist Kim Ohlemeyer will perform the new Concerto for Jazz Trombone and Orchestra by Richard Hill & Chris Barber and percussionist Steve Fitch will perform Harold Farberman’s Concerto for Jazz Drummer and Orchestra.
