TWINK Records presents James Polk Orchestra in an Evening of Big Band Blues

Join the James Polk Orchestra for an unforgettable concert of fifty years of soul, R&;B, and jazz favorites, all performed by a twelve-piece big band. The monthly series,Big Band Flies On Friday, features a line-up of incredible musicians, hot numbers and true soul-singers.

Leading the band is the composer and pianist Dr. James Polk, whose major-league background includes more than a decade playing and arranging music for Ray Charles, two Grammy nominations, and jazz-faculty distinction (Professor Emeritus) at Texas State University. The James Polk Orchestra features award-winning singers Pamela Hart. Ms. Hart is widely recognized as Austin's finest jazz singer, with a voice renowned for its clarity and warmth, giving "an illusion of effortlessness (Tribeza Magazine). Austin Women's Magazine labeled her "Austin's First Lady of Jazz."

The big band itself brings tremendous chops, with noted musicians
Alex Coke (Creative Opportunity Orchestra) on sax, trombonist Randy Zimmerman (Tito Puente, W.C. Clark), and drummer Kevin Scott (Barry White, Stevie Wonder), among others.
