Beethoven - Symphony No. 3, III
Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture
Coleridge-Taylor - Danse negre
Marques - Danzon No. 2
Gould - Star Spangled Overture

Inspiration for this special performance on January 11, 2012, the opening day of the 2012 Virginia General Assembly, comes from the bicentennial commemoration of the War of 1812, and the celebration of the writing of our national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner. The concert will feature music written in and around 1812, including the 1812 Overture. The audience will discover music that celebrates freedom, reflects upon times of conflict, and symbolizes cultural and national pride.
