American Culture Through the Poetry of Joy HarjoNative American musician/poet Joy Harjo (MvskokeCreek Nation) was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her books of poetry include She Had Some Horses, The Woman Who Fell From the Sky, and How We Became Human: New and Selected Poems. Her work has garnered many awards including a Lila WallaceReaders Digest Award, the New Mexico Governors Award for Excellence in the Arts, and the William Carlos Williams Award from the Poetry Society of America. Harjo reads from her work in celebration of National Poetry Month and discusses pursuing a career in the literary arts.
