Betsy Rose Concert: Loving the Spirited Child June 9, 2012

Enjoy an evening of music about raising and educating children in a wise, compassionate, and mindful manner. AND taking care of ourselves, too! Betsy Rose is an outstanding singer, songwriter, guitarist and educator. Her songs are an artful blend of beautifully crafted lyrics and music, with the power to soothe a wound and inspire a vision. She delivers an uplifting message of working with children with understanding and compassion. Especially for Parents, Educators, and everyone who loves a spirited child.

This is a Benefit Concert for Athena Academy, the school for children gifted with Dyslexia, in Palo Alto. Event includes "Experience Dyslexia", a simulation that allows you to experience the world through the eyes of a dyslexic child, and a brief presentation about Athena Academy. The school offers focused education methods indicated by the latest brain research on dyslexia. There is a student:teacher ratio of 1:6, and an average class size of 6 students. The school creates a calm environment conducive to focused, relaxed learning, and teaches dyslexic learners the way they were meant to learn. The school has operated a pilot program for the past two years, and is now opening on a new campus in Palo Alto.
