Benny Lackner December 1, 2007

Born in Berlin, Lackner was raised on American folk songs and blues by his father, a Californian. His uncle, drummer Tom Lackner, introduced him to jazz at 13 after they moved to the U.S. He has played with Billy Higgins and Pheeroan akLaff, as well as with Maroon, a group he co-leads with vocalist Hillary Maroon.
