Benjamin Starshine formed in Portland in late 2005 when songwriter Ben Hutchinson (formerly of The Shrills) met up with classically trained violinist Pekio Vergotis to arrange and collaborate on his new solo work. After writing, recording and performing together for a year, the pair was joined by Michael Ford (of Rick Bain and the Genius Position), who lends his drum and analog synth skills to their psychedelic sounds. After a couple more gigs, the trio was joined by former Shrill and close friend, bassist Lance Dinauer.
