Benjamin Wood was born in 1981 and grew up in West Lancashire. With the aid of a Commonwealth Scholarship, he completed an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where he served as fiction editor of the literary journal, PRISM international. His debut novel The Bellwether Revivals (Simon & Schuster, 2012) was praised by The Guardian as "an accomplished novel, suffused with intelligence and integrity" and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott prize.

In the USA, the book was selected for Barnes & Noble's Discover Great New Writers Program. As well as writing novels and stories, Benjamin writes and records songs with his brother Nicholas, under the name Arbiter Deputy. He is now a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London, and at work on his second novel, due for publication in 2014.

The evening is hosted by the Creative Writing programme at Edge Hill. If you would like to know more about our courses, please contact the Course Information, Advice and Guidance Team on 01695 657000 or by email [email protected]
